Amritara Riverside Camp, Thattekad

Unfortunately, our stay at Amritara was a very disappointing experience, especially considering the amount we paid. We stayed here with our baby and expected a comfortable and peaceful stay in nature. However, the basic cleanliness and facilities were far below what we expected. The tents were full of dust, and the bathroom tiles were not clean and had an unpleasant smell. Even the water bottles provided in the room had dust in them, so we did not feel comfortable drinking the water. We had to travel around 3 km to the nearest shop to buy bottled water. Although there was a small refrigerator in the dining area, there was no cold water or mineral water available. We had booked a room/tent advertised as having a river view, but the river was hardly visible from our accommodation. This was quite disappointing considering the expectation created by the description. Another major concern was the lack of adequate staff and backup facilities. During our stay, there appeared to be only one staff member and an elderly security person at the property. In the middle of the night, the generator backup was unavailable, leaving us in complete darkness without the fan or AC for almost 10 minutes. This was particularly difficult because we had our baby with us. We had to use our phone's flashlight just to keep the surroundings visible and avoid frightening him. During check-in, we were told that this is not really a resort or a conventional room stay, but rather a place focused on nature watching. I understand and appreciate the concept of a nature-oriented property. However, that should not mean compromising on basic cleanliness, drinking water, hygiene, electricity backup and essential guest facilities. If guests are paying a premium price to stay at a property, they should at least receive clean accommodation, hygienic bathrooms, safe drinking water and reliable basic facilities. The natural surroundings may have potential, but unfortunately, the overall experience did not justify the price we paid. I hope the management takes these issues seriously, particularly cleanliness, water availability, staff presence and power backup.

Absolute scam. Agoda, you'll missing your heaven entry for sure for the advertising and ratings. There was no temperature control, remote had no display. There was no bulb in the washroom. No geyser. No kettle. Tent is just basic. The main seating area/hall consists of old chairs, with cushions possibly pre-dating the colonial era. Property has no Wi-Fi. "They" were saying that WiFi is down for the time being, but I read reviews from way back confirming almost all adversities we faced which existed back then as well. "Please don't expect the hospitality of a resort, this is just a camp" only works when you price your rooms that way. 4-5k per night per tent is just absurd. I'm never recommending you to anyone I love. Maybe I'll recommend to those who harm me. Also, Agoda doesn't give a shit about how we guests feel.

Very nice tent experience next to the river. Air conditioned with 3 beds and attached bathroom 🚻. Calm and green environment with clean air and breeze. Tasty food and bird music helps us to unwind from all thoughts and relax.

The property is located in a beautiful setting, and the drive to reach it is especially stunning during the monsoon season. I had booked a riverfront room, but unfortunately the view was largely blocked by trees, which was a bit disappointing. The food service was below expectations, and overall the property does not feel like a 3-star stay. Maintenance appears to be lacking, and there was no hot water available during my stay. This place has great potential to be an excellent destination because of its location and natural surroundings. However, better upkeep, maintenance, and service standards are needed to enhance the guest experience. Apart from the scenic route and the location itself, I would recommend keeping expectations modest regarding the facilities and services.
