John’s Farm and Home

We had a wonderful stay of two nights at John's Farm and Homestay. George was a kind, attentive and informative host, whose enthusiasm for both his farm and looking after his guests was infectious. We very much enjoyed tours of the farm and the village. A real highlight was meeting his grandmother and mother, who is a wonderful cook. Thank you all.

This was a wonderful experience, staying at John's Farm and Home. A beautiful room, a wonderful family, and such excellent food. George gave us full tours up and around, in the town, and up to see the views. We learned so much about farming, especially the dangers of investing in rubber production. I knew so little: I didn't know that pineapples sit upright in the ground like in my local supermarket! Highly recommended!

George John's and his lovely family provide beautiful accommodation for their visitors and a genuine welcome to their home and farm. Thanks to mum and gran for sharing their delicious food with us. Staying with them gives you a snapshot of life in the middle of rural Kerala. George is a great host and took us on tours of his family farm and the local village. We were lucky enough to be there for a Hindu festival and met so many friendly locals. Our two day stay was educational and entertaining and we enjoyed it all. We send best wishes to George and his family and we would love to return some day.

Our two-night stay at Johns Farm was the absolute icing on the cake of our Kerala journey. From the moment we arrived, we were wrapped in such genuine warmth by George and his wonderful family. Our accommodation was a beautifully restored gem, and the food was simply divine. We were spoiled by the most amazing home-cooked meals prepared by George’s mother and grandmother—and as a special note, the tea was exceptional and would truly satisfy even the most discerning British traveller! A highlight was the cookery session where we learned the secrets to authentic curries and chapatis. It was a true honour to join the family for dinner, sharing stories and learning about the heart of Kerala culture. George also took us on a wonderful walk through the farm and village, introducing us to neighbours and explaining the local agricultural life. Spending time with this beautiful family—including George's 92-year-old grandmother, who has the most vibrant, youthful spirit—was a gift. They are the most open-hearted and generous people we have met. We genuinely left with tears in our eyes as they waved us goodbye, feeling less like guests and more like family. We would highly recommend this stay to any Kerala travellers.

We had a warm welcome from John and his delightful family. They provided super accommodation, food and company. We were taken out and about and there was plenty of rest and relaxation time too. We'd highly recommend a stay at John's Farm and Home.
